So here we go... Blogging from the call room. I came in tonight to lots of activity. Several new admits and a technical problem with providing positive airway pressure to a baby with a small chin and a difficult to manage oral airway. I won't bore you with the details.
It was kind of fun that my two partners that were here were in somewhat comical moods. The older of the two was somewhat flustered to the point of completely overlooking my presence. Then he gave me a hard time because I never make reference to "how he rolls". When I've clearly used such lingo in reference to the other partner (much younger I must add). You've gotta love him (and how he rolls!)
Anyway, I've been managing a baby that was born with a gastroschisis( an abdomenal wall defect causing the intestine to be exposed). A very good pediatric surgeon is currently fixing him up. I've made rounds, and everything is in a state of relevent control. Time for my binaural beats soundtrack with the sounds of a rainstorm, and an attempt at a couple of winks ;)

  1. I'm interested actually to learn a little about how you treat neonates with CPAP. I'm a sleep technologist and treat adult OSA with CPAP all the time at work.

Everything neonatology and perinatology interests me. Though I don't have the sort of passion that would propel me to desire to go to medical school, I do find it all terribly interesting.
